The Hound of the Baskervilles is probably the most filmed Sherlock Holmes story ever which means the plot is pretty well known so I assume that's why Mark Gatiss decided to ditch most of the plot in his adaptation for Sherlock.Instead of a family curse and an escaped convict we got conspiracy theories and a hidden army base developing secret weapons. Robert B Parker passed away on Monday. He made a huge impact on the crime scene in the '70s and published over 60 novels, most famously the Spenser series. His work was tough, funny, intelligent and romantic. From all accounts so was he. One of my favourite writers. I'm sorry that he's gone.

Just heard that I've had a story accepted for Catastrophia, PS Publishing's anthology of post-apocalyptic fiction featuring stories from heavyweights in the fields of science fiction and horror such as Brian Aldiss, Adam Roberts and Simon Clark. Recently read Eduardo Risso's Tales of Terror. Collection of black and white comic strips from the Argentinian artist. Just heard that artist Dave Stevens passed away last week.Stevens wrote and drew The Rocketeer comic that got made into a film back in '91 starring Jennifer Connelly and Timothy Dalton.Stevens had a love for the old pulps and his illustation style reflected that.
