Just noticed that John Connolly is on the attendance list of FantasyCon. Dead excited as I first read his Charlie Parker PI novels while I was writing Mask. Helped me with finding the novella's voice (God, that sounds pretentious). Anyway, I really want to meet him.
Knowing my luck it'll turn out to be a different John Connolly.

I've not read a JC, but his books do sound like my cuppa cha.
There's about 320 people attending FCon, you know... >O
Yeah, you've got the Charlie Parker series -- PI stories with supernatural overtones. And Bad Men which is set in the universe (Parker has a quick cameo) but is more overt in its use of the supernatural elements.
Then there's Nocturnes, Connolly's short story collection where he emulates top Horror writers such as M. R. James and Stephen King.
Only just heard about his new novel, The Book of Lost Things. I get the impression that one's more Fantasy.
Oh, might get Nocturnes then... too many novels at the moment.
And take it with me to get signed. :)
There's different editions of Nocturnes. The later ones have extra stories.
I've got the original hardback edition. There's a shop round the corner from me that sells brand new hardbacks for the price of paperbacks. And somehow one of the signed copies must have got mixed up in the wrong batch 'cos when I got it home I found JC's autograph inside despite my copy not bearing the 'Signed by the author' sticker that the publisher used to promote the book.
So I got quite a good deal. Even if I didn't get the extra stories that got added in later.
Until only recently I had never even heard of Connolly. Then I stumbled across a first edition of Nocturnes,in a charity shop. Very glad I did. It is excellent and I will be reading more of his work.
Steve, I hope JC doesn't read this blog. "Bargain bookshops? Charity shops? Doesn't anyone pay full price for my books????"
Stuart, if you go to Connolly's website you'll find a list of "independent bookshops" so I suppose he's not too bothered about where you buy his books - so long as you buy them! :)
Oooo, look who's making out he's a John Connolly expert all of a sudden :-)
Psst... it's definitely *that* John Connolly at Fcon... :->
Yay!
